The world of Watering Equipment

Watering the lawn is a task that we dismiss off as being extremely easy. But this is far from the truth. Watering is not as easy as connecting a hose and spraying water all around your lawn. There are specialized devices that come into play which make the job more effective than ever. Not to forget the aspect of water conservation and maximizing the usage of available water. Most people do not invest their money in Watering Equipment because they feel that it is a pure waste. However, if you care for it, it will be a worthwhile investment for life. And you will always feel proud over the fact that you are saving a lot of water.

• Sprinklers: Sprinklers are now widely used and even preferred over conventional watering systems and hoses. They distribute water efficiently over a specific area and can even be timed for a specific duration. Sprinklers can be further classified into stationery sprinklers and oscillators. As the name suggests, stationary sprinklers do not move from their place and sprinkle water up to their maximum displacement capacity. On the other hand, oscillators will distribute water in a specific pattern according to the make of the oscillator. It includes Traveling Sprinklers, Rotary Sprinklers etc. Most of these devices have prefixed timers which make it possible to set a specific time limit for watering the lawn. You can then go about your daily tasks without having to worry about turning off the water supply as the sprinkler will shut off on its own.
• Drip Systems: Drip Systems are far more efficient at water conservation than sprinklers. While sprinklers are said to be about 75% efficient, Drip Systems are up to 90% efficient. In simple terms, a drip system is an interconnected network or pipes, connectors and drippers that allow you to control the amount of water you want to give to specific areas of your lawn. Once again there is a huge variety to choose from. The most commonly used one is the one in which the pipes lie an inch or two above the ground. The only real advice that I can give is to get quality equipment for your drip systems.
• Hoses: Enter the world of garden hoses and we are back to the old and tested method of watering. If you do not have a sprinkler or a drip system in place, you can always attach Wands to your hose to duplicate the effect of a sprinkler. Different kinds of Nozzles can also be used with hoses. However ensure that you have hose reels or hose carts that allow them to be carried to all parts of the garden.
