Using Plant Germination Equipment
If you are a gardener, then you haven’t really grown anything until you try to grow plant from seed. It is one of the most exciting and satisfying experiences in gardening. But it can also be one of the most challenging ones. You need to follow the right procedures, have the right equipment and knowledge in order to ensure that your seeds germinate and the plant grows. The first step however, is to decide which plant you want to grow and buy the seeds. Do not be surprised if you find the seeds to be dry and withered for you are not looking at the actual seed. It is the seed cover which appears dry and wrinkled and is an effective mechanism in protecting the seed from parasites etc. It is later that germination occurs and leaves you stunned when the root begins to break through from the dry covering.
Seeding Indoors
Some seeds can be planted in the garden itself. However, at times Mother Nature likes to play with us a bit and the seeds do not receive one of the necessary ingredients for its growth. It may even receive an ingredient that is purely unwanted. For example, some plants are sensitive to frost and will wither and die before the growing days are over. In human beings, healthy children become healthy adults. The same stands true in the plant world as well. Hence most people seed indoors. Also it increases the harvest season and the plant germinates much faster.
Specialized Equipment
Most professional gardeners however, wouldn’t like to take a chance with seeding and hence use specialized seed germination equipment. The mini green house, propagation chambers, the aero garden, the upside down tomato planter and hydro farm fluorescent light systems are some of these devices. These devices help seeds germinate faster in a controlled environment by giving the right amount of warmth and moisture. The advantage of using plant germination equipment is that you n no longer have to worry about external factors effecting plant growth. If you are serious about gardening, then it is recommended that you use specialized equipment.
Transferring to the garden
You need to transfer the plant into the outdoors once it is mature enough. Some younger plants have a tendency to adjust better to their surroundings and hence need to be transferred earlier. However, in professional nurseries most plants are transferred after they start to flower completely.
