Outdoor chefs who prefer grilling the traditional way will find this chimney starter system invaluable. No more waiting around while the charcoal slowly heats up - the chimney's galvanized metal cylinder causes the flames to ignite each briquette quickly and evenly. To get things fired up, simply fill the chimney with briquettes, place newspaper or firestarters under the cylinder's perforated insert, and set in a kettle-style grill. A touch of a match through the holes at the bottom starts the fire and within minutes the grill is ready to take on burgers, hot dogs, or whatever's on the menu. The starter's wooden handle extends outward from a mounted panel to keep hands away from heat. The chimney is for use on a grill or grate only. The chimney starter holds up to 4 pounds of charcoal and measures 10.8 by 7.4 by 12 inches.

Strathwood décor has quality, ease of use, and casual elegance at its core. This classic style and reliable craftsmanship will weather ever-changing trends and regular use for years to come.

4Charcoal Chimney  Sep 28, 2007
The Strathwood Chimney Carcoal Starter works as I expected it to. It is a little larger than the one I was replacing and cost about five dollars more (which is why it got four stars instead of five). However, I have been very satisfied with it since its arival.

1Buy a chimney starter, but not this one  Jun 30, 2007
This chimney starter was given to me as a gift. I highly recommend chimney starters if you grill, as it makes lighting charcoal faster and easier, with the benefit of not needing lighter fluid. However, the handle for this model is poorly designed, and came loose to the point where it is not usuable after a year. Needless to say, a sturdy handle is a necessity when holding something containing hot coals.

3generally does the job  Jun 11, 2007
This is a well-known product and a clever idea, allowing you to begin a charcoal fire with a single sheet of newspaper. It works about 3/4s of the time. The "chimney" is somewhat smaller than I would like, and it is made of light materials.
