 Great for immersion blending, but nearly a no-go for smoothies. Aug 29, 2010
This blender does its job for the most part, and at a great price.
I bought this to replace a blender that was borrowed and broken and didn't want to spend a lot of money, and I certainly got a lot of usage from this at a low cost, but it takes a very long time and lot of hand fatigue to make a smoothie.
The blender can't crush ice, and it has trouble grinding through frozen bananas, especially. It also cannot blend up seeds, such as shelled sunflower seeds. If it's left on too long trying to blend a banana or something similar the motor begins to heat up noticeably.
It is great for blending soups and such, as there is not the typical hassle of pouring boiling soup into a blender caff, and for inventing salad dressings and sauces. It can make short work of a soymilk and hemp protein shake, so long as there are no frozen obstacles.

blended a 3 pound mixture of oils and lye - and of the methods tested, this blender gave me the best results (compared to a drill with a paint blender) - adequate and affordable

Was skeptical at first because the blades were so small (not like my original one), however, it gets the job done very well. Not difficult to hold the button in as someone else had mentioned. The price was right fo what I wanted. Great for fresh sauces, figs, fruit -- instead of getting the blender out & messing up so many dishes or taking the time to chop.

Quick and easy review:
Excellent speed and power. It is only 1 speed but it is perfect. It can crush ice even though it says your not supposed to crush ice with it. I use it everyday for my Frappe Coffee. Cleanup is quick and easy, power cord is nice and long.
My only complaint is that you need a wide cup or bowl to use this blender. Since I use it for Frappe, it would be ideal to mix it in the same cup that I use to drink out of. Instead I have to use a wide beer mug, then transfer it to my everyday cup.

Its simple and works fine for the price, the only draw back is that it can only go into liquid about 3 or 4 inches.
