This fire pit does what is expected. If a layer of sand is used as suggested, it will not burn out. On our first camping trip we had a large fire in it for 14 continuous days with no obvious damage. Also it can be moved when desired.

Fireplace works well. Only problem is that the screws on the rail do not match up exactly. Must bend into place. Also the cover may also need to be bent into place to fit nicely into the round firepit space. Smores are great with this thing and the design is pretty when lit up.

This thing is awesome! It's really big and looks beautiful! Just don't forget to buy sand before you put it together. I agree with the other reviews that you need more than 5lbs of sand. We bought a 50lb bag of sand and used almost 3/4 of the bag to cover the bottom. Great price, too!
Perfect for a night under the stars! Aug 12, 2010
After we relandscaped our garden area several years ago...it was obvious something was missing. We needed a fire pit! We found this one and have used it year-round (except, of course, in the rain!). We love to sit around the fire at dusk and watch the bats come out. A perfect alternative the usual backyard party! This summer, we decided it needed to be freshened up a bit...so, we cleaned it and then, painted it with Rustoleum's Barbecue Black spray paint (it handles the heat without compromise). It's like having a brand new pit! And, we are back outside, enjoying a glass of wine and watching for the bats at dusk!

This firepit is just wonderful! Assembly was easy and minimal. The hardest part was aligning the outer ring screwholes. Other than that, my handy B&D drill and a wrench got it put together in less than 10 minutes. We immediately started a wood fire, grilled hot dogs and made s'mores. What more could anyone possibly want from a firepit! Awesome, sturdy and delightful.
