One of my favorite childhood memories Feb 12, 2010 When my mom bought her first house with a fireplace, she bought this dragon to celebrate. She named it Stanley. That was 25 years ago. She still has it and it still gets regular use during the winter. As a kid, my brother and I use to love watching the steam come out of his nose. My younger cousin made my mom promise that when she dies, he gets it. It's still an ongoing family joke. "Is Aunt Joyce dead yet? I want Stanley." Now I have my own house with a fireplace and want to get my own fireplace dragon. It just doesn't feel like home without one.
Handyman home owner Feb 05, 2010 This is the second steam dragon that we have purchased for our wood burning stove. The first sprung a leak but we liked it so well we decided to get another one. Once water is in the dragon it works pretty much like any kettle except the steam escapes out the nose giving it the appearance of fire breathing. Cool effect.
Not sure why the first one failed. It lasted a couple of years and might have cracked when we filled it hot. Word of caution; make sure the dragon is cool before you fill it. Water and steam splash back when filling while hot. This is not a kids toy.
