 Good for 2-3 years. Jan 02, 2009
The base of this unit wore out just after the warranty ran out. We called Cuisinart to buy a replacement and were informed that they don't sell the base by itself and thus we needed to replace the entire unit. This is a colossal waste of money and resources. We will be looking elsewhere for our next kettle and other appliances, as well.

Purchased for my husband who is notorious for leaving kettles to melt on the stove -- this product is very attractive, takes up minimal space on the counter, retractable cord design is super, and so far it works very well -- only time will tell, but it seems sturdy and well made --

This is a wonderful tea kettle. I have one and have purchased one
for my sister and daugher. It boils water in seconds and makes a
really hot, hot, cup of tea. A must for Tea Lover even if they
aren't from Boston. It is worth the high end price believe me.

I bought one of these teapots about 5 years ago. I like it so well that I've now bought a second one for work. I'd have given it 5 stars, except that I find the lid to be a bit tight. It's fine on my original pot, but hard to get off of the second one. I called customer service at Cuisinart. I was told to return it to where I bought it or to buy another lid. I didn't find either option to be very good. IMO, they should have replaced the lid.

I was looking for an electric kettle to boil water for tea that had the heating element hidden from the water. I bought this one because of my experience with other Cuisinart products. They are a little pricey but worth it for the quality. This kettle is large and boils a lot of water so the kettle is a bit heavier than smaller kettles and noise is created by boiling the water. When the kettle shuts off I found the water is boiled to the perfect temperature for tea. I am very happy with the product.Cuisinart KUA-17 1-3/4-Quart Cordless Automatic Electric Kettle
