5very good  Jan 03, 2009
This machine not only looks good but it 'covers all the bases' it makes
all types of bread. I wondered about sourdough but then there is a recipe in the book that mentions a 'poolish' which is dancing pretty close to making sourdough;alas I have not tried this recipe yet. So, on to the facts: It makes dough well, bread good, the 'beeps' are clear especially the the six space six beeps to remove the dough paddle. And YES this does not only just pause [to remove paddle] but it will shut off too, you just have to hold down the pause/stop button for 3 seconds. Press less than 3 seconds to pause only [it will resume aft. 15 minutes, or press start]

I have found that I needed to read over the instruction and recipe book a few times in order to attempt 'mastering' the machines various cycles.

Yes, I'd buy this again, and recommend it. This is my 5th bread machine,
In 25+ years and it's the best one.

1Bakes a brick ...  Jan 02, 2009
I received this bread maker as a gift for Christmas. I've had break makers in the past and I've worn them out so I know how to use the machine. I made 2 loaves in this machine and they both came out like bricks. Also, when removing the loaves after they had sat on warm for a bit, the outside housing of the Cuisinart was so hot I actually burned my hand when I touched the side of the bread maker. This one went back as it is either defective or this one just doesn't work.

Also, there is a note in the instructions that you can stop the machine to take out the paddle before the bread bakes. I've never had a bread machine where I had to do this before so didn't think much of it. Both loaves that I baked, the paddle baked right into the bread without any hole to pull it out of. You have to destroy the bottom of the loaf to get the paddle out unless you happen to be lucky enough to catch it when the sound beeps and remove the paddle. A serious flaw in the way this machine makes bread.

Do yourself a favor. Buy another model or brand. This one is not worth it.

5Great bread machine  Dec 30, 2008
This is an excellent bread machine, but you have to adhere to the directions meticulously when it comes to the order of adding ingredients. There is room for experimentation, though, too. There is a "beep" sound to let you know when to mix in other ingredients. The recipe book gives you SO many ideas, it's hard to imagine running out of bread to make. I really like the fact that you can make excellent pizza crusts, as well as jams, etc. As far as appearance, this is a great looking machine on the counter, especially if your other appliances are stainless steel.

2Not worth the money  Dec 27, 2008
I made four loaves with this machine and ended up selling it and buying the Zojirushi. It's too fussy and the flour would often stick to the sides and not mix. The Zojirushi is twice as much but has two paddles and so far I have made 3 perfect loaves of bread. So if you want to save some money and you don't mind fussing with the machine and the contents then get this one but if you just want to dump everything in and walk away spend the extra dough (pun intended) and get the Zojirushi.

2Great for dough cycles, but burns bread!  Dec 26, 2008
I love this machine for the dough cycles, especially the Artisan Bread Dough Cycle. We love making these breads and dipping them in seasoned olive oil. However, anytime I have tried to use this machine from start to finish, the crust has come out way too dark. If I try to bake any kind of bread with a higher sugar content (like Panettone), the crust actually burns!!! So, I use my 12 yr. old Panasonic to actually bake bread. I just bought my daughter a ZO for her birthday. I think I might just treat myself with one of those myself!
