Gas Cartridge Mar 27, 2008
I have used a CorkPops Bottle Opener for 10 years and this is my second re-order of refills. I do find that it takes more gas to "pop" synthetic material corks and, as more and more companies use these corks, my gas usage will go up. I received the refill gas cartridges from CorkPops four days after I placed the order.

Good refills. The Cork pop itself is an outstanding wine corker. Guaranteed to get the cork out.

Works but does it affect the taste?? Mar 28, 2007
As a vintner we remove the CO2 from the wine as part of our process. This device uses CO2 to "pop" the cork--very clever. However this minor introduction of CO2 is insignificant and will vent quickly. At times there is an off-taste --like a lubricant or something which affects the initial taste of the wine. Let it breath for a while -- 5 minutes or so and it seems OK.

This device works well on corks, but is a hit and miss on composites and plastics. Do not use it on partially filled bottles as it takes to much gas from the small cylinder to be effective.
