Its unique design is appealing to the eye when filled with your favorite beverage. With its double layer of borosilicate glass it appears as though the liquid is 'floating' within the glass. They will not sweat when filled with a cold beverage, so you will not have to use a coaster. The double wall creates a thermal effect, helping to keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot for longer periods of time. These mouth blown glasses are an exciting product for any home, restaurant and cafe and they are a definite conversation piece. Bodum’s insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass traditionally used to make scientific lab glass. Stronger than traditional “soda-lime” glass, borosilicate can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in everyday glassware. The boron oxide acts as the glue holding the silicate together. Due to small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger, lighter glass. Borosilicate glass doesn’t need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong due to the bonding capability boron oxide. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is resistant to temperature swings, In addition to being dishwasher safe borosilicate will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 1,000 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it. | | | |

Awesome Design. HUGE. Not as delicate as people say. Aug 16, 2010 I'm and avid tea drinker and decided to break the tradition of using undersized teacups so I bought these specifically for hot tea... these glasses are much bigger than what I'm used so I freaked out when I saw them. I guess because there is a lot of space between the two walls, I guess that's how they keep liquids cool or hot, and they do work for this purpose; I can hold a glass of 160F freshly brewed tea without discomfort, sometimes I brew herbal tisane(almost boiling) or green tea(170F) right in these glasses and can hold and tip it over to strain the leaves without burning my hand. And I love that these are borosilicate glass... I've cracked many cheap glass teaware in the past and decided to buy some decent ware for my tea addiction.
I've read almost every "bad" review for this product and I can't disagree more. They are definitely not too delicate; I've used them 12 times over the 3 days that I've had them and I have not felt once that they would cracked or shatter and I'm definitely not too careful with them. They have a really thought out design and are not top heavy or tip over if you move them. The hole at the base of the glass is nicely sealed and it seems almost impossible to penetrate it with normal use. One thing I'd like to point out is that I don't have a dishwasher and I don't like to wash my tea equipment with soap, just spin and shake the glass under a faucet with plain old hot tap water, then I dry the outside of the glass and swing the water out of the inner well with a tight grip or use a rag. Have not yet seen stains or residues on these glasses, I assume because of the quality of borosilicate glass since it is used for labware.
These cups seem durable, I don't expect them to break handling them the way I do; they are fancy cups and should be thought of as such, they are not cheap ol plastic cups you can buy anywhere.
Excellent Discovery Aug 11, 2010 I just recently discovered the Bodum products and have been exceedly pleased with them. I was given a set of 2 as a gift (they come in sets of 2)and have since acquired the mugs and the iced teas. I LOVE THEM. The hot drinks stay hot longer, and the cold drinks stay cold longer. The only problem that I have found is that the iced teas are a bit difficult to hold because of the girth and I would not recommend them for anyone with small hands or short fingers. Otherwise, I give the entire line 5 stars!
Warning: Fragile! Jul 16, 2010 These Bodum Pavina 21 ounce glass tumblers are functional and beautiful. They successfully prevent a small lake of condensation from forming on my desk. It really is a shame they are incredibly fragile, as this is their only fault.
My first glass broke when I accidentally knocked it off my nightstand, this 2.5 ft drop onto carpet shattered the glass. It was only 3 months old when it fell. My second glass is now getting hairline fractures around the rim and will soon have to be tossed after only 4 months.
My advice is only get these (the largest Bodum tumblers) if you can be extremely careful with them. I was careful but accidents happen and at about $15 a pop this can get expensive. You also might try smaller Bodum tumblers, as my 9oz Bodum glasses are sill intact, they are probably less fragile. I'm going to move to some plastic 24oz tumblers that can probably take a 2.5ft drop. Currently i'm thinking about Tervis tumblers as I drink tons of tea and soda with ice, i can't live without them.
Artwork glasses Jul 12, 2010 The Bodum Pavina double-walled glasses are works of art you can drink from. It's also great to have an icy-cold drink without the sweating and condensation dripping all over, something that always annoys me. With these glasses, it doesn't happen.
Fragile! It's a love-hate relationship! Jul 12, 2010 These are the most beautiful but fragile glasses I've ever had. It's like a Lamborghini - high maintenance! They will shatter (and make a big mess) if they get slightly bumped or knocked. Wash them by hand and don't let anyone use them - enjoy them yourself.
