Its unique design is appealing to the eye when filled with your favorite beverage. With its double layer of borosilicate glass it appears as though the liquid is 'floating' within the glass. They will not sweat when filled with a cold beverage, so you will not have to use a coaster. The double wall creates a thermal effect, helping to keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot for longer periods of time. These mouth blown glasses are an exciting product for any home, restaurant, and cafe and are a definite conversation piece. Bodum’s insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass traditionally used to make scientific lab glass. Stronger than traditional “soda-lime” glass, borosilicate can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in everyday glassware. The boron oxide acts as the glue holding the silicate together. Due to small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger, lighter glass. Borosilicate glass doesn’t need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong due to the bonding capability boron oxide. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is resistant to temperature swings, In addition to being dishwasher safe borosilicate will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 1,000 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it. | | | |

great glasses Feb 27, 2010 I bought a set of these glasses two years ago, and never had any problems. I have used them with the ice dispenser from my fridge, and stirred them with metal spoons (both are not recommended by the manufacturer) and never had any problems. They keep condensation off of the tables, which is great since my husband doesn't know how to use a coaster ;) I don't find them to be fragile- The only ones that have broken are the ones I dropped in my new sink (my old stainless steel one didn't break them, but the new one is ceramic and deeper. Even my extra thick, single wall, old-fashioned glasses have broken when dropped in this sink!)
I alway wash these glasses in the dishwasher, and never had any of the "leakage" problems other people have complained of (water seeping in between the layers). I love these glasses.
Great, Feb 14, 2010 Be very careful putting ice in the glass. Tilt the glass sideways. If the ice falls to the bottom it can break the inner glass liner. This glass keeps beer or milk very cold. Elegent to drink from.
If they tip, they break! Jan 21, 2010 These glasses are extremely fragile. When I was getting married, we registered for eight of these, hoping they would make great beer glasses. Unfortunately, they started breaking almost immediately. Within a year, we had none left!
All the glasses were handwashed, and I wonder if that's the problem. In a sink full of dishes, even the slightest tip of the glass into anything else would break it. By my standards, that's extremely fragile. In contrast, the standard pint glasses we have from Target almost never break under the same circumstances.
(And, to be fair, we have short Bodum glasses as well, and six of the eight are still with us after four years of marriage. But those glasses are infrequently used.)
Hesitant to buy more Bodum Jan 18, 2010 I purchased these in Dec2009, then excited about the "no condensation" concept. HOWEVER far too fragile, as others have also stated, and now I am super cautious with the one glass I have left. I do not like the fact that I have to be overly cautious with this item - especially since I purchased it with the assumption it would make my life easier. Glass is not covered under warranty @ Bodum. Definitely feel like I lost money. To be fair, I haven't tried other Bodum products but this experience makes me shy away from this brand.
comfortable usage Dec 13, 2009 these glasses are really comfortable to the hand and are perfect to keep your dirnk cold or hot.....
