4Good with smaller above ground pools  Jun 09, 2009
I have a 16x3 intex above ground pool and this is "OK" for it. I think I am going to have to invest in one more to get more of a bright effect, but it is a really cool light. It has numerous settings on it and will light up a party indeed. We used it at our bbq with a couple little torches and it was awesome. Everyone loved it. But like I said could be brighter. ALSO, my kids like to turn it on outside the pool and watch it glow on the ceiling..It IS bright up there :) Great bargain, and I would recommend, only if you have a smaller pool.

5Not what I expected, but still pretty good!  Apr 15, 2009
I bought this initially bought this as an alien beacon to summon back that starship I saw oh so many years ago! Imagine my surprise when I discovered it was just a simple pool light, haha. Well, you know, with the "Light Starship" in the title, and the glowing body of water in the picture, I was certain this was the beacon I'd been searching for! Sure, I thought it rather odd to place an alien beacon underwater, but who am I to question technology of a race beyond my understanding? So, rush forth and purchase I did this magnificent creation, and as soon as it arrived in the mail I tossed it into the bathtub! You see, I have no pool, and I believed any body of water would do. A week passed, and there were no signs like last time. No crackling, no lights in the sky, nothing heralding the return of these aliens I saw as a child! Well, of course, I rationalized, how are the aliens going to see the beacon if it's inside in my bathtub? So I went out and bought a small, plastic pool from Wal-Mart (and for whatever reason was shot many nasty looks from behind finger-plugged noses), and brought it back to my apartment. I filled the pool with water (one cup at a time, do you realize how hard it is to fill a pool with no hose?), placed it on my balcony, and threw the beacon in. To my dismay, the beacon refused to light! I was terrified! What had I done wrong? I searched the beacon over, trying to figure out what the malfunction was (being extremely careful as to not set off any alien security-device).

To my great surprise and delight, I discovered the aliens had made the technology human friendly, using some sort of power converter to take the energy from a simple double A battery. So I changed the batteries, threw the beacon back into the pool and waited. Ah, it was a glorious time, that summer. I refused to go to work, for what if the aliens came while I was away? My work called, and I never picked up, for what possibly could work have to offer that extraterrestrial beings from another planet couldn't offer? As I sat and twiddled my thumbs (I became quite the thumb-twiddler), I thought back to that glorious day when I had first seen the alien spacecraft.

It was during the summer, on a hot and sunny day, everyone was outside barbequing steak and hotdogs and hamburgers with red, white, and blue clothes. The family and I were playing games like water balloon volleyball and football, and all the while the adults talked about apple pie. My cousins and I played a variation of capture the flag, but with squirt guns (we found people were much more willing to be hit with water in this hot weather). Later in the evening, I was playing with my imaginary friend, Henry, a stuffed animal squirrel. We were supposed to be in bed, but we were having much too much fun drawing pictures of aliens and spaceships. And as if by a sign from God himself, we heard a loud boom outside! We rushed to the window and heard crackling off in the distance, and then we saw it... Four lights in the shape of a cross were soaring through the night. We caught but a glimpse of it before it flew behind a tree, and a loud boom followed. Henry and I decided the ship went to hyperspace and flew off to whatever planet it next wanted to visit.

Well, ever since, I always wanted to see these aliens I know I saw on that day, and I thought this would be my chance. But after a summer of waiting, and angry phone calls from my parents, I decided it was not to be. With my head hung low, I called a friend of mine to ask for some help with this device. He came over and laughed at me and explained its real function! Boy, was my face red when I found out I had been using it inappropriately this entire time. So, while I never met my aliens, I'm proud to say that my fish now have better rave parties than any other, thanks to the AquaGlow Underwater Light Starship. :)

1Embarrassing  Jan 19, 2009
Bought this as a gift for a friend's birthday party. They were excited to see it in action so we put it right in the pool with about twenty guests watching. What a huge disappointment!!! Looks nothing like the picture...totally lame. It barely lit the corner of about a 20' pool. I would return it right away if it wasn't a gift.
