 Buyer beware Nov 24, 2008
Had I not been replacing an exact replacement this review would be worse. The grey part in the picture with the round looking ball on it that guides the hose back on the reel had two female sections rather that one male and one female. Hence no way to screw the two together. Good thing I was able to salvage my old one and use it. It seems like this was a repackaged unit and not an unopened new unit from the manufacturer. I had read a few reviews on this item before purchasing and they also thought the same. There is also a part that comes pre-assembled that leaks. Nothing I can do about that. Lucky for me it's only a few drips. I would expect better quality from Amazon and may think twice before buying anything in the future.

It was somewhat difficult to assemble, but after it was put together it worked very well.

I ordered 4 hose reels from Amazon. All four arrived in a timely manner. My complaint is that of the 4 that arrived only one had a complete set of parts for assembly. I took parts off an existing reel I was replacing
in order to complete the 3 new reels that were incomplete. The quality control in regards to the completeness was very poor. Otherwise good product.

Great product - best design of wall mounted garden hose reels. I purchased two - for front and rear of house - to replace reels of the same design that finally gave out after 8 or 10 years of satisfactory service.

I had one of these for years, and was very pleased with it until it started leaking. The new one from Amazon also leaked. I returned it to Amazon a recieved a full no hastle refund. I called Ames and was sent a new part free. After installing it, I still had the same problem. There's something wrong with the O-Ring design in this reel. Not recommended.
